beginning of the adventure...
Taylor, Caley and I are in Tahoe right now. We started our trip on Valentines day with a Volcom PBRJ at Summit at Snoqualmie. The set up was sick there was a corrugated tube, a flat down box, and a pole jam to down box. Whistler cleaned up, Taylor came in 4th, Caley in 2nd, and i won my first contest in years. So after the contest at about 10pm we began driving through the night to Tahoe. Made it here exausted and greasy by 430pm the next day. We had no where to stay so we sat at Starbucks until a friend came and rescued us. Caley and I did some boardin through the streets of truckee behind Taylors truck the next day. Then yesterday we rode some epic powder at Alpine Meadows yesterday with Nat and Nikki. I drank a 3$ bottle of chardonnay last night, aand today we're off to Northstar !

Lake Louise builds JUMPS w/ Jeff Patterson
TERRAIN PARK RETURNS TO LAKE LOUISE
LAKE LOUISE, AB - The Lake Louise Ski Area is pleased to announce that the Terrain Park will be returning to the slopes of Lake Louise for the 2008-09 winter season.
"One of the first things that new owner Charlie Locke wanted to implement when he took over majority interest in Lake Louise was the re-emergence of the Terrain Park," confirms Lake Louise Marketing Director, John Ross. "Due to liability issues, it won't be as extreme as it was in some previous years, but it will still be an excellent place to go have fun and practice your skills. Our goal is to have the Terrain Park back in action just as soon as possible."
TERRAIN PARK UPDATE
The Lake Louise Ski Area, the Rockies’ biggest, Canada’s best, is proud to announce that Jeff Patterson, world-renowned terrain park designer, is overseeing the design and final construction of the mountain's much-anticipated terrain park. Patterson's vast experience working around the globe with premier resorts, professional skiers and snowboarders reaffirms the Lake Louise Ski Area's commitment to providing a world class terrain park experience. Everyone is invited to check out the impressive size and variety of the many jumps and features during the park's official grand-opening party and slopestyle event on Saturday, January 24.

Lake Louise Slopestyle

Booked the weekend off to head out to Nova Scotia for the Billabong Flaunt it at Martock. Decided to cut the travels short and hit up Alberta for the Lake Louise slopestyle instead. -20 C Weather wasn't the most favorable contest conditions but the skies were sunny, and tried out my first toe warmers! TOE WARMERS will change your life! Got 2 runs for qualifiers and then 1 run in finals....
1st me
2nd Breanna Stangeland
3rd Brooke Voight
Contest set up was sick; 2 rail options, 3 consecutive jumps, and one more rail feature at the end. Things never got icy; the takeoffs stayed perfect, speed was straight, and the park crew kept things prestine.
Checked out night slopestyle at Norquay afterwards. Decided to opt out of hitting the sheer 60ft ice blocks and settled for the couple of runs with the free lift passe and the Coors Light beer tickets. PIcked up a couple packs of Tall Pilsner and attempted to play the hour of power....drinking is a sport and im out of shape. Spent the night at a buddy's place in Banff and muscled down some JD and coors at the Devil's Gap. There should be more wicked rock and roll bars like this one.
Banff is...quite possible one of the funnest places with some of the funnests people to party at EVER!
-3pm flight bak to Vancouver, B.C.
-off to Vegas tomorrow afternoon
Burton Am Series
So Dani Brown got to Breck last night! Really excited about it not gonna lie, we're going to have a lot of fun times :D Anyway, there was a Burton slopestyle comp today I decided to do kind
a last minute. The weather was sooooo bad, just puking snow, probably over a foot through the course of the day. Needless to say, these aren't ideal conditions for a slopestyle competition. The jumps were sooo hard to clear, pretty much had to go as fast as possible and pop really hard to spin at all. Field started with 30 girls, and top 4 went to finals. I made it through qualifiers and by the time finals rolled around the sun had come out to show us the foot of fresh snow on the course! Hmmm... haha made it tough. But I ended up landing my runs really solid and stomped all my spins and ended up in 1st place! Stoked, made some money and got an instant spot for US Open! Dani Brown is my good luck charm...

Best day ever!!!
Days like today remind me of why I love snowboarding so much! It was warm, sunny, soft, had some great friends with me and was so unbelievabley fun :D My friend Shelly and I woke up early and headed to keystone, saw some goober who had managed to drive his car UP the side of a mountain, had a good laugh at that. Not a cloud in the sky all day, it was so amazing, and just played around all day. It was my first day back jumping since Dew Tour, knee felt really good, was hitting the big line of jumps which were about 60 ft, didn't hurt the knee at all! So stoked. Played on some super fun tree rails that went thru buildings and stuff, some handplants, and finished the day with amazing Mexican happy hour yay! And I got my new camera, so took a bunch of fun photos today, check em out...

Wildfire!
Terrible weather...
Today it's snowing so hard and is so cold and windy they had to close the upper lifts at Breck! (doesn't happen often...) Hurricane force winds are really scary on a lift, so no snowboarding today. Tomorrow is supposed to be bluebird and powder though, can't wait!

41cm's of fresh in Whis
Last night our car was getting faceshots. Driving home from van ripping
car pow lines "this is so fun i can't imagine how it will be tomorrow" then tomorrow happened
today and it was better then I could have imagined.
I took some photos from my phone on crystal chair.
Snowing like crazy, more to come whistler is really fun right now.

Riding again!

Today was my first day back riding since Dew Tour because of the knee! I got a cortisone shot in it on Friday which is basically a steriod that relieves pain for up to 6 months. I've had a few in my left knee and they help so much, and I'm really stoked they gave me one in the right knee. So today I was back on the snow, took it mellow, but still so much fun. It's been such good weather out here, really sunny everyday, but the last few days have been frigid! Rode Breckenridge all day and had such a good time, Keystone tomorrow I think, and hopefully shoot some photos! Hoping the knee won't be quite as sore tomorrow so I can actually go jumping too :) Here's a pic I took of Breckenridge today too, hope the weather stays like this!

Dew Tour Weekend

I'm happy to be alive after this last week of such intense partying and riding, so ridiculous. I did qualifiers for slopestyle on wednesday, but didn't do as well as I wanted. The jumps were some of the biggest I've ever hit, but were also some of the best built too. The weather was really terrible for most of the week though, which meant they shut down the comp due to weather a couple times! It was snowing so hard and so windy that they couldn't run slopestule or pipe on Thursday. Spencer killed the slopestyle competition for the
ladies, really stoked she won and I'm sure all the Canadians must be proud too. Her runs were so smooth and stylish, she really deserved to do well. Here is a sick shot of her back 3 off the second jump. (I still don't have a camera, hence why I use other people's photos haha.) Once the slopestyle competition was all finished it was time to party! Toyota rented out some gigantic mansion where there was open bar all night long, lots of dancing, and so many
people! A fun little photobooth provided some hilarious pictures too...

Friday night I headed over to the Ride team house, and got the pre-game going with them by shotgunning who knows how many beers. Once everyone was all loosened up and covered in cheap beer and Ride stickers, we headed to Liquid Lounge. Electic was throwing the party that night, so of course it was a rager. The whole Electric team was there, as well as the TM Creepy Cyle, who really got the party going as always. Such a fun night, wish I had some photos! Saturday night was one of the most ridiculously packed nights at the bar, I've never seen so many people at Cecelia's Bar in my life! It was the Redbull party, so lots of redbull&vodka to go around, although I had enough to d
rink the night before so I was a sober soldier. Everyone was dancing their faces off, and I saw more than one person try to drunkenly dance on the stripper pole! Another late night with lots of fun all around.
Yesterday, Megan Ginter, the other Ride team girl who's still here, and I went shredding at Breck for most of the day. We finally some warm weather and sunshine, so stoked it cleared up. We used our last food vouchers from Dew Tour, bought lots of cheese fries, and soaked up the sun a bit before riding around the mountain. Had a really big crew, which is always a good time, got sprayed with snow, and definitely had some laughs.

Last night was the icing on the cake, really a great end to the weekend! It was karaoke at Cecelia's, which is always a good local's night, and the bar was packed! Everyone was hammered and singing, we even got our Ride TM to sing some Aretha Franklin, which was absolutely priceless to say the least. My throat is killing me today from all the singing I did last night, I was belting it out to a few different jams.
All in all, it was a really great start to the season, got everyone stoked for winter, and reminded me of why I snowboard- I love it, and the people I'm always surrounded by are some of the best out there. I am glad that the town won't be quite so crowded, but it was all worth it in the end!

Do the Dew?
I'm sitting in bed and I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight! Tomorrow is one of the biggest competitions I've ever done, the Dew Tour, right here in Breckenridge. I rode by the slopestyle course today to check out the jumps and such, but couldn't hit it because it was skier qualifiers. The jumps are MASSIVE to say the least, and a lot of the skiers couldn't clear the last one. But they are all built really well, and pretty similar to how Breck normally builds their jumps, so I think I'll be pretty comfortable on them. I have to do open qualifiers tomorrow, 25 women in the field and they take top 4 to prelims, pretty tough. Especially when there are so many girls who kill it so hard doing qualifiers like Silvia, Raywen, Bev, Leanne, and soooo many others. It's going to be such an awesome day I can't wait, wish me luck and I'll tell all about it tomorrow!
BLACKCOMB GONDOLA BREAKING

So we had a wicked fun day on the mountain riding around with some friends, getting some old tricks back my feet back on my legs and what not the park is super fun and it wasn't as cold as it was before! They were blowing so much snow with all this cold weather. So we are ripping Solar laps and they were like its closed you can't go up and then we ripped over to escaliber and then to jersey and jersey was closed then back to gondola and that wasn't working so we ducked the ropes and sent it down the landmind feilds. I WAS RIPPING through the flats with rocks everywhere, could have died really. Then we find out that a pole on the lower part of the Blackcomb gondola is bent and they are evacuating the mountain the tower snapped in half! people are on it whistler is going crazy its above all the houses, one of the gondolas is on the ground. There is a bunch of houses under that so its hectic they closed the road and fire trucks are here and the hospital has helicopters ready incase anyone has to go to van! HECTIC TIMES im going to go try and get a photo! BRB.

UPDATE: my brother just talked to one of the kids that was in the gondola that dropped and he got so mangled his feet were out the window when it finally stopped bouncing. He is okay tho, he will be rich.
Its on CTV man they are fast.
Its on CTV man they are fast.
crazyy
a tower on the blackcomb gondola just broke, there's a gondola in a condo, one in a bus stop and one dangling over the river apparently. this literally JUST happened so this could be innacurate info, but thats the word right now. there's a helicopter on the landing pad right now and ambulances and police people everywhere so who knows whats going on. SO HECTIC. hope no one is seriously hurt... scary shit. it'll be interesting what this does for whistler as far as tourists during christmas vacation.
had my 3 month post op appointment with the surgeon in whistler today and got the official OK to start shredding again. im happyyy. hopefully the weather will get better, but even if it doesnt ill be up there preparing to brave winnipeg winter in a week. i really wanna do some rails while im in the peg cityy but my snowboarding skills are a little rusty at the moment. we'll see.
alsoo... yesterday i went sledding!! my first sledding experience. i just got doubled mostly but i got to rip around a bit on my own too it was so fun! theres not much snow up there at all its pretty sad. i definately wanna go again when there is.
aand finally, had to get my truck towed for the second time today. im really ruling at owning a truck. i think i need it out of my life now. oh! and im moving back to alpine for the month of january into my old room which is now max's room. yay!

MOUNT BAKER!
Organized a trip to Mt.Baker wooooooooooooooooooo! Barry Hartman was my partner in crime just like the old days.
First official road trip in my truck, yay! Such a sick mountain! So much ridiculously fun terrain! They didnt have much alot of snow but they had enough to get a couple wicked turns in.
Such a different feeling being at a mountain where you dont know anyone, where you dont know where to buy a lift ticket, dont know where any of the lifts go, where the good runs are at, where to park........all that snaz! its fun to be out of your own element and go on some real adventures!
Dropped down into some roped off areas cause some randoms said that it would hit a cat track...more like a massive cliff. Ended up hiking out, no big deal. Met up with Pat, Jake, Sean, and their friends and they showed us some runs that we would have never found, SO FUN! Definately a mountain where you have to ride with the real loc doggs. Those guys can rip! Def fun just keeping up with them and a treat to shred with them.
Stopped off at Graham's, the first food spot cause barrys stomach was growling! Wood burning stove, old school rustic bar style, both me and barry's first legal US beer...tastes even better when its legal and some damn good burgers and old school fries.
Can't wait to get back to Baker! That mountain really knows whats up! Lots of chairs, sick terrain, NO BARS ON THE CHAIRS... Already checking the weather out to make the next adventure out there after their next snowfall.

Good news!
Went to the physio today for my knee, see what he had to say. Turns out I'll be good to ride Wednesday in the Dew Tour! I just have to go to the gym and get it comfortable and get the swelling down. So I worked it today, and probably won't ride till Tuesday, mayyybe. Want it to be golden on competition day. Won't be able to train before, but I'm pretty confident with my tricks. Can't wait!

Peak to Peak!

Today was an exciting day on Whistler/Blackcomb, as it was the opening of the Peak to Peak gondola. I was a sucker a rode it, although I didn't wait for the glass bottom cabin. It's pretty amazing though, amazing view, nice and roomy and you can now warm up in whis park in the morning and head over to black park for the sunny afternoons in a mere 11 minutes. Some technical details: the gondola spans 4.4 miles making in the longest gondola in the world I believe and making Whistler/Blackcomb one of the largest, if not the largest ski resorts in the world! It's only supported by 4 pole, so if your afraid of heights...stay away. Check it out for yourselves @ ww1.whistlerblackcomb.com/p2pg/
Knees are terrible...
I've been jumping my face off the last few days, getting ready for dew tour and all. Today was going really well, stomping all my tricks, riding with some good friends. Then I did a switch backside 540, and I'm not exactly sure what happened, because I landed it a little funny, then felt my right knee dislocate. Effff word. So now I'm icing the knee, which isn't the knee I usually hurt, but I'm hoping it will be okay in a couple days. Fortunately I do this all the time, and it doesn't feel too bad, so I'm still planning on doing Dew Tour next week. But now I'm just hanging out with some friends who are doing a fabulous job of cheering me up! Johnny Lazz is the man basically, he makes me laugh non-stop so he's good to be around, p.s. he is determined to marry Caley V haha. So I'll be keeping it mellow for a couple days, so I'll keep the knee situation updated!
taybirthyyy
So yesterday was Taylors birthday to start the day off Chrig and I went up the mountain early and ripped up a bunch of paper to make confettie and cut her name out into a chain thingy. Then we saw her run into the lodge and we surprise happy birthdayd her. Then after boarding we got hot wings and hung out at earls. Then Chrig and I met Taylor at lily where she was getting her make up done and we then headed to cinnamon bear where we had dinner and drinks and played pool and hungout and she got her best birthday present ever D.Dennison flew in FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY for tay!. After that was garfs and the whole crew dispursed. Dancing laughing throwing glasses and pizza eating went down.

boardingwalrustacoeaters
Today was the first day we brought out the camera because it was a little softer and bluebirds. We grabbed coffee and Brad ptexed my board and de-tuned it and waxed it! WHAT A MAN! So yeah I finally bought my pass man it felt good but i am officially in Big person debit. With the whole credit card scene. Anyways our mood was pretty mellow at first and Chrig and I decided that had to changed so we tried to learn how to do the worm down the mountain. It didn't work to well but definitely turned into quiet the spectacle. Anyways we rode and filmed some things on what the park has to offer. There was some falling and laughing and dancing and trickers and way more girls then ever! Other then that here is some photos and what not. P.S. we had a taco salad and the red pepper is hotter then the green said three out of three people, for future reference.

it's me, dani b.
Helloooo blog readers,
Caley V was nice enough to invite me in on this amazing idea of hers and Taylor's. I'll be the east coast gal until I catch a plane to meet up with these girls somewhere in the world.
Until then, you all will get a glimpse of what's happening over on the east side.
Little bit of a long distance relationship happening.
Anyway, it's dumping in the GTA (greater toronto area, duh) right now. It seems to snow every single night lately, clearly not complaining about it.
Got this quote in the Snowboard Canada Resort Guide. Stoked.

Frontline Company Check Out
Frontline Clothing had a company check out in this month's issue of Slash Magazine. The only two girls on the team are Kea and myself (check us out haha) Pretty excited that frontline is getting some exposure. The team is stacked and its such a wicked family. You should definitely check out the site, buy some clothes and go find a copy of this month's Slash magazine to read the article!

Jumps!

Keystone opened their big park yesterday with a triple set of jumps, over 50 jibs, plus an extra fun booter at the bottom of the park. The jumps are pretty good sized too, last one is probably about 45 or 50 feet. SO MUCH FUN! Even though it's like 30 people deep at the top of the jump line it is so worth the wait, the jumps are built a little bit poppy with such nice landings. Such perfect early season jumps to get the tricks back on! Rode a bit with Bev, Jamie, Leanne, Raewyn, and Spencer yesterday and today, they kill it so it's always fun riding with them. Picked up my friend Jonny Lazz from the airport last night too, he's such a blast to be around so I had an amazing day riding with him too! Today was the best day, totally bluebird all day long, not too cold, good crew. Can't wait till the rest of the girls come down here!

Some MiniHype @ Garfinkles
Last night was Runway Films Premiere, we also showed a lil somethin somethin. The night went well the bar got pretty full, bartenders spraying water, glasses were thrown , laughing and dancing went down, all good.
So we were just trying to get the word out about what we are doing this year. Due to a lack of snow it lacks the boarding in it, although we are just saving all the good stuff for Jan1st! Dice K Maru

Dice K Maru is the man. Dice is a japanese photographer that mainly does the snowboarding photography and participates in noboarding. Dice gave me my first Capita when I was 11years-old. The board he gave me was a sample Capita, one with photo's on the topsheet photos taken by him. Capita did a board series called the Photofetish, The graphics feature photos from five of the best photographers, Dice K Maru, Vlanney Tisseau, Trevor Graves, Vincent Skoglund, and Mark Gallup, from five parts of the world representing CAPiTA's founding ideals of life, love, art, music, and snowboarding. (which i totally agree with) I just read about this on gnarcore, That Dice has his own blog!DICE K MARU blog, check it out he is an interesting guy with a cool outlook on life
these are the two boards he graciously gave me growing up.

and a close up on the grafic with his daughter on it, his theme was love

LAST NIGHT
we went hot tubbing then had an epic dance party at the beagle with a lot of people. D12 and royce da 5'9 or whatever were supposed to play at garfs but they cancelled so the bar was paacked. i stayed sober the whole night and still had a really good time. me and caley did a good job of phantom ing from the bar and went back to her house around 2.
...the night before that, i locked myself out of my new house and ended up sleeping in my truck for a couple hours, then on the concrete ground in the entrance to where some hotel has snowboard storage (because it was warm). im constantly getting myself in to ridiculous shenanigans. oh and the night before that i drove myself into a ditch, because i cant drive my stupid truck and had to get it towed out for 65$.
my wrist is starting to move a bit, and i got some stitches out the other day. im gonna have a surgery to get all the hardware out in jan hopefully, and in two weeks i have an appointment where they're gonna tell me if its healed enough to start shredding. hope sooo. hopefully it'll start snowing too, whis is not doing so good these days

Snowing in Breck!
So there's finally snow coming down outside here, we realllllly needed it! Looking out my window in downtown Breck and everything is white :D The Mountain Dew Tour is less than a month away, and they're claiming its going to be bigger than X Games and blah blah blah. Won't be too sick if there's no snow... so I'm definitely stoked. Getting a little nervouse for it, but I've been working really hard on those rails, just waiting for some jumps to pop up somewhere. Word on the street is either Dec. 7th or 9th, so keeping my fingers crossed it keeps snowig like this.
It's fun in Breck right now, everyone and their mother is here for Dew tour, so got to see some old friends which is always nice. I'm trying really hard not to go to the bar, but it's hard when all your friends from out of town are around. Not drinking at all, but the staying up late is probably going to catch up to me. Oh and I officially don't have a job now, definitely have to do something about that...
But I got a big box of new outerwear from Ride and Cappel yesterday, but it's in Boulder and I'm in Breck. Mom opened the box for me though, sounds like there's a bunch of stuff so I'm a happy camper! I was just down there for Thanksgiving, so good I ate soooooo much, so I probably won't go down until next week sometime. The roads are so sketchy right now it's scary driving anyway. Good thing I can just walk to the gondola! :D

ComputernerdinG
Wrist is still pretty effed, I've been putting some serious time in on my computer. Declined offers of going out last night and tonight. Drinking probably wouldn't be good for the swelling. Had my first shift at Showcase tonight, it was busy and hectic. Tomorrow I move out of my pretty house in the village and into a house in Alta Vista with a bunch of boys. I'm getting pretty used to packing up all of my belongings and moving.
This interviews worth reading i think..for several reasons. Its been up for a while but whatever. One of the best freeriders everr, plus he's aware of environmental issues. More snowboarders probably should be... The green mountain project sounds kinda coool
Holden has a line of outerwear made with waterproof hemp thats super environmentally friendly too. interesting...

Lazy Friday
I don't have my pass yet so i just had a lazy day. I went to breakfast with Jan and Max, then to Coffee with Hayden. I got Hayden a job lifting boxes for the new Tna. We went in there and he signed papers and such. My new flannel was in, It was puking wet snow outside, the mountains looked foggy. Hopefully it gets really cold overnight so thatall stays on as a base to cover all those damn landmines. I have my contractfor my pass now so hopefully i will be getting things going. Hopefully this snow doesn't stop, we just need it to stay cold.
BLACKCOMB OPENING DAY!!!!
Missed out on Whistler opening day because i was real SICK! Got up at 6am to be at the lift but had to duck out just as the line was starting to move..dammit! Yesterday made up for wednesdays' loss. FRESH POWDER over rocks and wood chunks. So fun! Derek is still in town for me, him, Griff, Gill and her new knee, and Freddie took some sweet lines and hit up a few of thelil jibs already set up. Its snowing like crazy down here in Nordic so I can only imagine what it is doing up there. As long as this snow doesnt turn to rain tomorrow is going to be AMAZING! worked the Wildcat party at Garfs last night, all the newbies are in town so there were 3 fights, more than 8 attempts at people trying to steal out of our tip jars, HUGE promo tabs and some solid entertainment! Gonna hit up the gym with the boyfriend today, make some french toast, and head off to work. SO excited for tomorow :D

My Whistler Opening Day
Alarm went off at 6:08 am (since i don't like waking up to normal times) Haha I actually woke up not tired and excited. Opening day, though not like other years ;where its a huge pow day and the whole mountain is opening with both gondolas going and lots of snow to enjoy. This year a little different weather conditions. I went outside, it was still dark. I then grabbed my bike and my board and tried to mount my bicycle. The wheel then slipped on the icy ground so I put my foot down. I rolled myself on the bike to the road where I figured it might be a bit easier. I tried for the second time, wheel slipped out. I then put down my foot with cat like instincts and my foot slipped out on the ice. I was a fallen mess of bike and snowboard. I picked myself up looked around, neighborhood was dead as usual, especially for 6:30 in the morning. Finally I got on my bike and didn't look back. Left hand steering, right hand holding my snowboard, boots already on with outerwear done up. The trek from my house to the mountain is completely uphill. Something I didn't think about was changing gears, they are on my right, same as the snowboard. So I biked very hard, sweating and panting out of breathing trying to make it up the long slope without stopped. If i stopped their would be no hope of continuing. I MADE IT, pulled into earls loop and locked up my bike, Darrah then appeared out of know-where and said "oh my you biked here, thats commitment" , I laughed and struggled with my frozen shut lock. Darrah and I then walked downstairs to Starbucks. Where the girls were all meeting up. I ordered oatmeal and a coffee and sat there, still sweating and out of breath. Taylor and Derek showed up a bit late due to a frozen windshield. We all then walked to the lift, where the line wasn't too too long. We butted in with some friends to create an eight. With a crew of eight you don't have to have silly singles jammed into your gondola. Taylor wasn't feeling well so she went home with Derek before it opened. Darrah went ahead with the boys she came with. So it was just me, Jarrod, Kevin, Mike, Adam. We did the damn thing for awhile ripping pow lines from top to bottom untouched. So totally unexpected and amazing!! It was a lot of fun, you couldn't cross tracks though or else you hit rocks or trees! I actually hit a tree and fell backwards five feet into a tree-well.. IT was so hard to get out of. Lucky I measeled myself out of there. People die in tree wells all the time around here. The conditions got worse as the day went on, the only snow we had got tracked and it was like riding through land mines (rocks). I rode with Geeves, Adam, Gill, Freddy and Mike for the rest of the day. It was wicked fun times, I went down around Noon with Gill. We went and got a coffee and reminisced. I biked home got changed biked back went to work. Work was hard, I was hungry and we had alot to do. So I biked home SO FAST and fried up some tomatoes and toasted some toast. I ate that then an apple with cheese.. then half an opa pita. Now I am on the couch and totally going to bed early tonight!!!!
good day overall. goodday.

oh but note to self: 145's are ALOT of work in snow especially for a tall girl.

Wrist Shenanigans
so i went to get a pin taken out of my wrist yesterday, which i was told was a mellow procedure. after having my arm cut open and an hour of some lady yanking on metal in my wrist with pliers, i was thinking it didnt seem too mellow. finally they decide to xray it again on a different angle and discovered it wasnt a pin sticking out of my wrist it was a screw... which was attached to the plate holding my bones together in there. so they sewed me up and schedualed me for a surgery in squamish next week. sweeet. im taking a few days off work cause its real sore. it was opening day today and im not allowed to go snowboarding (doctors exact words were: if you fall on that wrist, you will break something) but i figured id just be veryy careful. slept at gills, woke up at 530 and headed to the village with jan and jake. 3 hours later we were on our first gondola of the season. it was a pretty fun day despite the serious lack of snow and my extreme cautiousness. everybody was up and stoked, it was a good vibe. went inside for lunch, and discovered my hand was huuge and swollen. kinda worried me, so i cut my day short. i think im going to follow the doctors instructions and not snowboard til this thing is healed. we'll post pictures later

Today was prettty fun did the boardin, coffee drinking, electronics playing and I HAD A SNOW BALL FIGHT WITH A LITTLE KID THAT KNOWS LIL WAYNE. haha just kidding about the lil wayne part but he is from New Orleans and he was totally flirting with me all day throwing snowballs at me and hiding. He was like.. id say 10 ish and he came by our little jib sesh to hangout. Anyways Griffin told him i would kiss him if he wouldn't stop throwing snowballs and he ran away home yelling GROSSS. haha Amazing.
I just made some fried tomatoes on spicy humus and toast. It was pretty delicious now I'm making hot coco and waiting for the hills to come on...
Overall a gooddayindeed.

Shred Kits Ready...Just Waiting For The Snow To Fall.
So...my saturday consisted of setting up my snowboard, sticker job completed, lacing up the boots, and strapping in knee brace and all and doing some sweet presses in my living room. I'm pretty cool hah, but the knee feels great almost 6 moths post op acl reconstruction and I think I'm ready to shred. After some sweet carpet pow turns it was off to the final Sandbox premiere to catch up with some old friends and make it rain. Here are the results of our super high profile photo shoot and some extras from the night as well as the Vancouver premiere. Embrace...

FLAT TIRE
got my new truck last wednesday 2005 4x4 V8 4.6L F150. officially in debt. it is my new baby, so scared of doing any damage to it. front left tire looked crazy flat today so me and derek hit up the husky to fill it up. it freaking EXPLODED! ooops? it was pretty gnarly. thank goodness for a full size spare tire and thank goodness even more for derek knowing and teaching me how to change the damn thing. intimidating stuff. but now i can thankfully say that I CAN CHANGE A TIRE! :D

SANDBOX!
SANDBOX PREMIER at the Westin!!!!!
The venue was wicked and the turn out was even sweeter. best vibe EVER! great people great times..... So stoked to get to hang out with everyone. seems as if hermit season is quickly approaching and with everyone low on the financial scale it is a hard pressed time to get to hang with everyone. last night was a huge success from a spectators stand point. AMAZING night! even one of the bartenders jumped around on top of the bar in his underwear. everyone had a good time. cant wait for the next big reunion! xo

Second Snow +Sandbox Finale= goodtimes : )
So the mountain was said to open saturday but due to weird weather lately it couldn't do it. Although on Saturday it snowed and we all headed up to base two. There was a bench, log jib, jumper thingy, sign jibby and a downrail. Huge crew hanging out and doing their thing it was pretty fun, remind me to dull my edges those babies are scarrryyy!! Then i headed to pasta lapino with Hayden, Geeves, Logan and Hayden's brother. It was so good and so affordable, i forgot how good that place is. Chugged a Vitamin water from the circle and headed home to shower and get ready. My dad and i made a stir-fry it was okay, not as good as i usually make them we had a lack of sauce, so we made due. Geeves came over and then Chrigy,Freddy,Gill, Mark, Adam, Jody, Belzile and we played a drinking game we made up called Spin The Bottle: Hug or Drink. Ha-ha so what happened was you spin the bottle and the person it points to can either Hug you and drink with you or drink by themselves 3 times. Ha-ha so that made some laughs, and Geeves popped some champagne with a knife and accidently broke the top which accidently cut his pinky finger. We said cheers and laughed and stuff. Then it came time to head to the premiere so we had designated drives drive us there and we waltzed in. There was a photo area with props and such and a photographer taking photos. Two huge screen's a DJ and a Bar. Red wrist band means you can watch the movie, Blue wrist band means you can drink. THEN we ran around said hi laughed a lot and on the way back from the washroom kicked christmas trees and i found this photo of santa on my phone. ha-ha oh man! Heres some photos... so you can bask in how much fun we had last night!

Mammoth Road Trip: Day 4

I woke up early Sunday morning and got taken to a breakfast of bagels and soy lattes by a cute boy, which is always a good start to any day, and headed up the mountain. Today was the day we broke out the camera to do some filming since it was our last day in Mammoth. Our friend Colin did the filming for us, (who knew he could cook and film!?) and got some really amazing footage of us. Started out sessioning the down tube at the top of the park where frontboards were abundant and faceplants few and far between. Michelle got a nice shot on the C-rail, which gave me some serious sw-elbow when I frontboarded on it. Had a few solid shots on a down rail after that, then headed to the jump to catch air haha. It was only about 30ish ft, but definitly big enough to float some nice 3's and a few other lil tricks. Some more shots on random jibs throughout the park rounded up the park filming so we went off to find natural jibs. Headed back to the natural step-up we'd found the other day, and put some bamboo poles in the mix to make for some sick spin-tap-spin shots. Played with the pole for a bit, jibbing it, airing over it, etc. until I got bored and decided to pull out some backflips. Attempt one went straight to the face on rocks basically and scraped my face a bit, but had to try agian. Second try went well, did a good flip, but we decided the jump was too small to be a great backie jump. So we headed up to the top of the mountain, where there were a bunch of wind fences that had natural mounds of snow piled up= natural fence jump! Kind of a sketchy run-in, but after we set the thing up and hit it a couple times it was really fun. A few taps, spins, and one really hard fall on my broken tailbone later, we had to wrap it up since the mountain was almost closed. The shots from that should be awesome, the scenery in the backdrop was absolutely beautiful.

Once we got off the mountain we had to pack all of our stuff back into Alice's little car and get back on the road, I had to work at 10 AM in Breckenridge and we had a long drive ahead of us! Left Mammoth at about 5 PM and drove all night, saw some really funny things, a beautiful moon, and me skipping in the dark in the middle of nowhere along the way, and made it back to Park City at about 2:30 AM. After a few Redbulls and a couple 5 hour energy drinks later, we found ourselves back where we started in Breckenridge, at about 9:30. I had to huslte my little butt off to go to work at 10, with no sleep, until 7 that night... good thing the whole trip was more than worth it!!!
Mammoth Road Trip: Day 3

Got up the mountain a little late this morning, the evening before definitely took it's toll due to very little sleep. Met up with the ladies just as the snow began to soften and started having fun. Decideded to ride the lift switch for a bit, absolutely terrifying, never doing that again! Thought I could handle it but it was too awkward and scary haha. Yet another day of sunshine and warm weather (where is the snow?) but slushy park made it perfect conditions for learning new tricks, and getting some old ones back :) The mountain was pretty packed just because it was the weekend and all of LA was there to play too, so lift lines were a hassle. Got some new Electric goggles from Cyle, so that was a definite bonus to the day, and lots of free redbulls from the girls who were handing them out all weekend. We were all pretty spent, and wanted to rest a bit before going out so we headed down the mountain a bit early.
Went to Nick and Willies for some of the most amazing pizza I've ever eaten, plus lots of laughs and Michelle tounging a picture of poor Paul Newman haha.
After pizza we headed into the village to Sushi Rei, where it was a party full of friends and industry people, snowboard videos playing and sake drinking. Bascially everyone was celebrating the return of winter and a great start to the season in Mammoth. Ended up staying there for quite a while socializing and sake-ing it up before heading over to Whiskey Creek. Get to Whiskey and it was so crowded they were hardley letting anyone in. Decided that sushi was wild enough, and that not staying out all night again would be a good choice...
Mammoth Road Trip: Day 2
Woke up early to head to the hill Friday morning, and after a delicious breakfast omlette I geared up and caught a ride. Once Michelle and I rode up the mountain with her friend Colin, we hopped on the lift to enjoy another perfectly sunny California day. Took a few laps waiting for the park to soften up, and caught up with Alice and her friend Javi. Alice, Javi, and I rode around the mountain finding fun natural jibs and jumps, and even some powder still hidden in the trees! Since my tailbone is technically still broken I was still taking it really easy, so seeing more of Mammoth than just the park was great. We found this sick little dugout jump that was a natural step up and lots of fun to hit, so hung around there for a while. There is so much to the mountain, lots of cliffs and sick hidden jibs that you'd never know about unless shown, so it made for an awesome freeride session. Eventually found our way back to the park for the rest of the day, played around on all the tubes they had setup throughout, down tubes, tube bonks, street style tubes, etc etc. Ran into creepy Cyle Cadam, the Electric TM, a man we all know and love, and who I saw knock himself out the morning before... he wasn't so stoked on that haha. So after another long day we rolled home to get ready for the night!
Went to Colin's house where he made us a gourmet dinner including some mean quesadillas and tamales. Another reason of why Colin is the man! After our delicious meal, Alice and I headed down to Lakanuki, one of the only bars in Mammoth, for a big industry party. Bar was packed with people, lots of old friends from Whistler like Fabia and Cornell which was awesome, plus met so many new kids who were just stoked to be in Mammoth for the weekend having fun like everyone else. Free Monster& vodkas all night helped turn the evening into one of dancing and shenanigins, and was definitely one of the best parties I've attended in a long time. Left the bar at the very end of the night exausted, tipsy, and more than ready for a good night's sleep!
Mammoth Road Trip: Day 1
On Tueday I ran into my friend Michelle Shea while riding at Breck, where she convinced me to take a road trip with her to Mammoth, CA, the next day. I can never say no to a good adventure, so I decided to tag along. We left Breck at about 1:30 in the afternoon where we proceeded to drive to Park City, UT, to pick up our friend Alice Gong. After driving 8 1/2 hours to get Alice, we got back on the road, Cali-bound. We had some foggy stretches, and a few close encounters with deer and bunnies on the road, (some bunnies more lucky than others i'm afraid...) but after 9 hours of driving under a full moon the sun finally started to rise! Ahead of us stood Mammoth Mountain and lots of fun shredding to be had. So after only a couple of hours rest, we headed up to the mountain. It had snowed 3 ft earlier in the week, so half of the mountain was open with tons of runs top to bottom, plus a park with endless fun jibs and a couple jumps. We took the gondola to the very top of the mountain, such an incredible view, not a cloud in the sky and so warm out!
Rode all day, all over the mountain, sessioning the park and running into countless friends from all over the country. Seems that we weren't the only people who wanted to be in Mammoth for the weekend! So after a long day of fun and shredding we ended up leaving to pass out and get some much needed sleep in preparation for the night ahead.
We started out the night at the sushi restaraunt, Sushi Rei, where we watched "That's It That's All," which is mindblowing to say the least. Met up with some friends there and headed over to Whiskey Creek to watch the premier of "The Boned Age," the Grenade movie which is hysterical. While wandering the bar I bumped into some more random people, inlcuding, but not limited to, Fabia aka Camp of Champs head honcho! Ha always a fun surprise seeing her at a random bar. Danced the night away and headed home for a night of serious sleeping.
Early Opening!? Yes!? or NO??
So early opening is said to be saturday but its not looking so good.. the snow-line is very high.. hopefully they come through.

And the results..

So Hay comes picks me up and drives Jen and I down to the city. We stopped at Starbucks in Creekside and saw Alex Duckworthh she was in town for the night before she drove to Colorado. So i got a latte and a muffin ( the muffin wasn't even good) Then we continued i kinda just slept in the backseats while Hayden and Jen chatted away. We then went to Chrigys house and changed clothes. We met up with Jody,Mark and Mikey and ate at the Cactus club. It was really yummy. We then grabbed everyone and walked over to the skytrain. I TOOK MY FIRST skytrain. It was pretty fun, similar to go train and some train i went on in germany once. Haha Darrah sat on my lap and ZOOM it brought us to commercial. Then we walked the wrong way and realized and turned around and walked the right way. When we got there, there was a big line but somehow i had this idea i could walk to the front and get in and it seemed to work. I don't think anyone even noticed. When we got in it was packed, Runway movie was half way through so i didnt really get to see it. There was a big monster drinking area and and big chairs and movie watching section. All our friends were scattered about, and everyone running around in party snake shirts. When party snake came on it was wild out fun to watch. Sandbox was fun too. Errbody was there. Anyways we then took the skytrain AGAIN to the Voloures party premier thing. Their whole crew was there, then fights broke out people got bottled chrigy got slapped and we peaced out cause obviously bad vibe. Headed to Burbon where a few of the people from premiering went, and we DANCED. oh did we ever. Solid crew of Max Rupert Darrah and I on the floor. Went home and ordered pizza. Then we slept and eric made me britta water at 6 in the morning. Overall a pretty fun night. Darrah realized she doesn't like vancouver because when you want to go to another bar you have to walk for blocks and take trains. When your in whistler you walk next door... Today was funny we went shopping and i was a real comedian. Swindled free pitas, Told the girls at rocky mountain that i should pay for my carmel apple tommorw and hayd eh chay Littayy. Yup.

Gym Gym Gym
Option shootday 2 and weekend
Option Shoot day 2
Early morning, hit up Starbucks trecked to the Holiday Innnnnn uh! I dont think that I am a city driver. Too hectic Johnson weaving in and out of traffic. It wouldn't surprise me if 60% of drivers in Vancouver do not LEGALLY have a drivers license, yikes!
Day 2 of 2 the better weather day. Outside shoots around the rain forests of the local mountains, some pretty look out areas, sand pits, and leaf throwing.
Slammed my right thumb in the door of a car, smooth move. Tried to play it cool after I stopped swearing, but man it hurt and honestly still does. Poked a needle through it to relieve the pressure. My dreams of becoming a hand model are over! ha
Spent all day and afternoon finishing up the business plans. hung out with my Mom all night, we made a wicked fresh food dinner; shrimp and avocado to start off and then greek salad. We made pastryless pumpkin pie, yum! Watched Desperate Housewives and Amazing Race...felt good to just hang at home.
Checked out trucks at REPO (www.repo.com) for trucks. F150 4x4 4.6L 4 door. The sales representitive was very informative and not pushy. Was worried that they might try and scam me and my Mom. He knew his stuff and answered truck questions regarding sleds that my Mom thought i didnt know about. TRUCK SOON :D
Back to the grind at Earls yesterday woo. Manager margarita mondays! This thumb situ could cause a problem for bartending tonight.
Chillin with CaleyV today getting straight lazyyyy...starbucks, knitting, soup and cheese sandwiches, and getting the Logo on lock.

Opening Weekend

The last few days have been hectic down here in Colorado because a bunch of resorts opened this weekend! Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper all opened Friday, and Breck had a free pancake breakfast. It was so cold though that the maple syrup on our pancakes froze solid haha! But after only a run or two it had warmed up, the sun was out, and everyone was stoked to be riding Breck again :) They had a super long run which was awesome, no park the first day though.
Saturday headed over to Keystone, which just remodeled their gondola with new cabins and a lower starting point. Reallllly crowded, but once we made it to the park it was all worth it! I think there's something like 15 features in the park, including lots of fun boxes and rails, corrugated pipes, and even a gigantic propane tank jib.
Sunday woke up early and walked to the lift at Breck and picked up Starbucks on the way. First tracks meant a little fresh snow and a perfectly groomed little jib park. Not much, only four jibs, but definitely enough to play around on! Once the little park started getting crowded we grabbed some lunch and headed over to Keystone. Crowds were still out of control, and the run a bit icy, but the park was great fun and everyone was basically having a party on the mountain. The bike-rack jib and baby jump line were probably the most fun jibs of the day, but the whole park was really dope. Late in the day it started getting chilly, and flakes started to fly, so once the grey skies rolled in we left the mountain in search of some happy hour to complete our even happier weekend.
Hopefully in a couple more weeks the mountains will be on point!
Best opening weekend ever, awesome weather and an even more awesome crew!

Option Photoshoot day 1...
Last night was a party!!!!!!!!!!! ForumorAgainst em' Premier at Whistler was a major success! Must have been a combo between the SNOW in the Village, the AMAZING vid, and a couple of pilsners! Regardless, last night was entertaining from a bartenders perspective. Im crazy to doubt that the dancing, the pouring of full 2oz. drinks ontop of heads, smiles, and pictures were....not fun? Wish I could have been on the other side but I had to keep a sober head to make the drive to the city. Oh ya, I need money too.
3 peaceful Redbull hours of sleep made for a super fantastic 'rise and shine' this morning. Grabbed a delicious Tim Hortons coffee and met up with the Option Team downtown. We shot fun photos for the catalogue 09/10 all day in a random studio near Grandville. Went for drinks and dinner at Cascade Lounge. Its a hip little loungy restaurant near Main. I would suggest the Veggie burger and the Mussles, YUM!
It was SO MUCH FUN! I've done shoots for 2 other catalogues and this was by far something of its own. A new experience, an experience that I am stoked on! It felt refreshing to meet new people from around Canada and the US that are so passionate about snowboarding. Everyone meshed so well together and the only way to describe it is, Good VIbes! So stoked on the Option Team!
Day 2 tomorrow...Outside Shots.
The forecast is calling for rain accross the boards so things might get a little messy. Excited to hang with everyone for another day and get to know everyone a little better.
Just got picked up by 'Cilla" yesterday! Cilla is wicked underlayer started by Priscilla Levac. The designs are very fashion forward, rational, and Sweet!
Got a little article published in the Georgia Straight today too.....

Time for bed thought! Plan A consisted of working of business plan and sponsor format proposals. Plan B now consists of catching up some well needed Zzz's.

Colorado Sunshine
Monday October 27th: My first day of riding this season at arapahoe basin in colorado. Probably one of the nicest, sunniest, and most fun first days i've ever had. There was such a good crowd of people out killing it, and a great vibe all day long. Mellow crowds definitely helped keep the day going smoothly, and i was stoked at how easily it all came back to me!! Sunshine and good friends made the day amazing, even though i managed to break my tailbone within the first few runs haha. hopefully back on snow soon though... keeping my fingers crossed... until next time :)
