Mammoth Road Trip: Day 4

I woke up early Sunday morning and got taken to a breakfast of bagels and soy lattes by a cute boy, which is always a good start to any day, and headed up the mountain. Today was the day we broke out the camera to do some filming since it was our last day in Mammoth. Our friend Colin did the filming for us, (who knew he could cook and film!?) and got some really amazing footage of us. Started out sessioning the down tube at the top of the park where frontboards were abundant and faceplants few and far between. Michelle got a nice shot on the C-rail, which gave me some serious sw-elbow when I frontboarded on it. Had a few solid shots on a down rail after that, then headed to the jump to catch air haha. It was only about 30ish ft, but definitly big enough to float some nice 3's and a few other lil tricks. Some more shots on random jibs throughout the park rounded up the park filming so we went off to find natural jibs. Headed back to the natural step-up we'd found the other day, and put some bamboo poles in the mix to make for some sick spin-tap-spin shots. Played with the pole for a bit, jibbing it, airing over it, etc. until I got bored and decided to pull out some backflips. Attempt one went straight to the face on rocks basically and scraped my face a bit, but had to try agian. Second try went well, did a good flip, but we decided the jump was too small to be a great backie jump. So we headed up to the top of the mountain, where there were a bunch of wind fences that had natural mounds of snow piled up= natural fence jump! Kind of a sketchy run-in, but after we set the thing up and hit it a couple times it was really fun. A few taps, spins, and one really hard fall on my broken tailbone later, we had to wrap it up since the mountain was almost closed. The shots from that should be awesome, the scenery in the backdrop was absolutely beautiful.

Once we got off the mountain we had to pack all of our stuff back into Alice's little car and get back on the road, I had to work at 10 AM in Breckenridge and we had a long drive ahead of us! Left Mammoth at about 5 PM and drove all night, saw some really funny things, a beautiful moon, and me skipping in the dark in the middle of nowhere along the way, and made it back to Park City at about 2:30 AM. After a few Redbulls and a couple 5 hour energy drinks later, we found ourselves back where we started in Breckenridge, at about 9:30. I had to huslte my little butt off to go to work at 10, with no sleep, until 7 that night... good thing the whole trip was more than worth it!!!
